The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman reveals how the initial lineup of Traitors is chosen.

The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman has revealed that the process for selecting the Traitors involves her working alongside a production committee.

At the start of each series of the treacherous reality show, Winkleman is shown sitting down one-on-one with all of the new contestants and quizzing them about whether they would make a better Faithful or Traitor.

Then, in a blindfolded round table, she secretly taps the shoulders of the chosen Traitors - and in each of the three series so far, she has picked three initial Traitors.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Winkleman outlined the behind-the-scenes process to reach the decision, admitting: "It's not down to me. There's a group of us, including the brilliant producers and casting team. We go into a room and don't leave until they're chosen."

She added: "If someone asks not to be a Traitor, they wouldn't be picked."

The Traitors continues Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 9pm on BBC One.
