RuPaul marks the beginning of DragCon London with a special tribute to The Vivienne, who tragically died a week ago.

RuPaul opened DragCon London today with a special tribute to Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne, who tragically died last weekend at the age of 32.

The Drag Race universe and the wider entertainment world was left stunned by the sudden death of the star - a comedy queen who had gone on to perform on stage in The Wizard of Oz and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and appear on shows including Emmerdale and Dancing On Ice.

DragCon London is a two-day event held at the ExCel Centre featuring appearances and performances from more than 200 queens from Drag Race franchises around the world.

At the start of proceedings, an emotional RuPaul told attendees: "We are here to celebrate life and celebrate love and to spread it around. We want to focus on love."

He continued: "We are here to start these festivities, but before we do that, we want to focus on love, and we're going to remember our dear The Vivienne with love, life, and that's what she was all about.

"She would love for you to live your lives and to be free and to have a lot of fun and to spread it around, isn't that right?"

A memorial wall and memorial books have been set up at the event to allow fans to pay their own tributes to the star over the course of the weekend.
