BBC Radio 1 will hand over its schedule to the stars of RuPaul's Drag Race UK for a day later this month.

Stars of RuPaul's Drag Race UK will co-host a series of shows on BBC Radio 1 as part of the station's first ever Drag Day, it has been announced.

The special day on Saturday, August 21 will begin at 7am with Tayce linking up with Clara Amfo for the breakfast show, followed at 10.30am by season two winner Lawrence Chaney alongside Arielle Free.

Bimini Bon Boulash and Dean McCullough take over at 1pm, with the legendary Jodie Harsh teaming up with Charlie Hedges for a special edition of Dance Anthems at 4pm.

"I used to listen to Radio 1 every day when I was a teenager," said Bimini. "I would be listening to Grimmy and Fearne and saying to myself one day I would be hosting a show!

"Absolute dream come true and I can't wait to get in that studio and have a laugh with Dean! You're gonna have to drag me out of there!"

Radio 1 head Aled Haydn Jones added: "Our young audience love drag culture so it's right we celebrate and showcase the very best of UK drag.

"It will be a day filled with fun and entertainment and also a chance for our listeners to hear a different side to these amazing UK drag queens."

Drag Day also promises to feature special mixes and surprise guests.
