The Mandalorian season two unaffected by coronavirus

Disney's new CEO reveals that The Mandalorian season two has not been impacted by coronavirus and is on track for release in October.

Disney CEO Bob Chapek has revealed that the upcoming second season of Disney+'s The Mandalorian will not be delayed by the coronavirus pandemic.

Most TV and film productions around the world have been brought to a halt by the deadly disease, which has seen many countries enter lockdown in an effort to slow the spread.

Star Wars spinoff The Mandalorian is not a casualty of the shutdown, however, with filming having already wrapped earlier in the year.

"We've been in post [production]," Chapek told CNBC. "There'll be no delays on Mandalorian.

"We have a certain amount of inventory for Disney+ that is fuelling the machine.

"Pre-production – the development phase – can still happen during these times of lockdown, post-production can still happen."

The Mandalorian season two is due for release on the streaming service in October.
