Taylor Swift to drop surprise new album tonight

Taylor Swift announces the surprise release of her eighth studio album at midnight tonight.

Taylor Swift has announced that her eighth studio album, Folklore, will be released tonight at midnight.

News of the new record took fans by surprise, with Swift revealing on social media that it was written and recorded during the coronavirus lockdown, adding that it was an album that she has "poured all of my whims, dreams, fears, and musings into".

Folklore runs to some 16 tracks, with a bonus song called 'The Lakes' on the physical edition, and will be headlined by lead single 'Cardigan'.

Swift also revealed that she has already shot - and directed - a music video for 'Cardigan', which will also be released at midnight.

Curiously, the release of Folklore comes on the same day that old adversary Kanye West also drops his new record, Donda: With Child.
