Supernatural's final episodes to air from October

The final seven episodes of long-running fantasy series Supernatural will air on The CW in the US starting in October.

The CW has announced that the final seven episodes of Supernatural will air on the network in October and November.

The fantasy series, starring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, is coming to an end after 15 years on the air and was originally due to air its swansong in May.

Just 13 episodes of the season were broadcast before coronavirus forced a production shutdown in March, with five of the last seven episodes already filmed and shooting on the final two beginning in Vancouver today.

The CW confirmed that the final tranche of episodes will begin airing on October 8, with the finale now set for Thursday, November 19 alongside a celebration special Supernatural: The Long Way Home.

After the show wraps, Padalecki will move on to the network's reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger, while Ackles will join the cast of Amazon Prime's The Boys for its upcoming third season.
