Richard Osman's House of Games promoted to primetime BBC One

The BBC announces a primetime version of Richard Osman's House of Games for broadcast on BBC One later this year.

The BBC has announced that Richard Osman's House of Games is to be given a primetime run on BBC One.

The quiz show, which sees four celebrities face off in a variety of puzzle rounds across a week's worth of episodes, has aired for more than 150 episodes on BBC Two since its debut in 2017.

Earlier this year as the UK entered coronavirus lockdown ratings hit a new high of 1.8 million and an 11.5% audience share, convincing the BBC to order an adapted version for BBC One primetime.

The new series will feature Jennifer Saunders, Jermaine Jenas, Roisin Conaty and Jason Manford as the contestants and will use the same rounds from the BBC Two version alongside some "new items" specifically created for the primetime show in addition to a house band and special guests.

"I'm very much looking forward to bringing the show to primetime on BBC One," said Osman.

"We've got some great celebrity guests lined up, and on top of our regular games we've also got a few new surprises in store."

The BBC One series will air later this year, while the BBC Two version is expected to return for a run of new episodes next month.
