Boris Johnson going for "short walks" in hospital

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is going for "short walks" in hospital as he continues his recovery from coronavirus.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is well enough to go for "short walks" in hospital as he continues to recuperate from coronavirus.

The 55-year-old was let out of intensive care last night after three days and is now making encouraging progress back in the general wards at St Thomas' Hospital.

A Downing Street spokesman said: "The Prime Minister has been able to do short walks, between periods of rest, as part of the care he is receiving to aid his recovery.

"He has spoken to his doctors and thanks the whole clinical team for the incredible care he has received.

"His thoughts are with those affected by this terrible disease."

Although he could be released from hospital in the near future, Johnson is expected to require at least three weeks' rest after battling the disease.
