Filming of the new Black Panther movie officially begins in Atlanta ahead of its release next summer.

Filming on the new Black Panther movie has begun in Atlanta, Marvel head Kevin Feige has confirmed.

The film - Black Panther: Wakanda Forever - is being made despite the death of lead star Chadwick Boseman to cancer last year.

"It's clearly very emotional without Chad," Feige told Variety. "But everyone is also very excited to bring the world of Wakanda back to the public and back to the fans.

"We're going to do it in a way that would make Chad proud."

Little is known about the plot of the film, although Marvel has previously confirmed that the character of Black Panther will not be recast.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is scheduled for release on July 8, 2022.
