I'm A Celebrity boss open to staying in Wales for 2021 series

Richard Cowles, executive producer on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, says that the show could be based in Wales again for its 2021 series.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! executive producer Richard Cowles has admitted that the show may not return to Australia next year.

Due to coronavirus, this year's series has taken place at Gwrych Castle in Wales rather than in the Aussie jungle, with celebrities taking part in a series of medieval-themed challenges.

ITV is thought to have already secured access to the castle throughout 2021 to stage international versions of the show there - beginning with the German version next month - and also has the option for Gwrych to host the next UK series in November 2021.

"Australia has been I'm A Celebrity's natural home and the Welsh version was born out of necessity rather than choice, but we've learned a lot and so maybe there is a UK incarnation of the show," Cowles told Broadcast.

"We will look at what being in Wales means for the format going forward. Is it something we would want to do again, or do we want to return to Australia?"

The current series ends tonight with either Giovanna Fletcher, Jordan North or Vernon Kay being crowned the show's first ever King or Queen of the Castle.
