Gemma Atkinson is to reprise her role as Lisa Hunter on Hollyoaks for a brief guest stint after 17 years away from the soap.
The actress first appeared on the show in 2001 and Lisa quickly became one of the most popular characters, forming a friendship with Zara Morgan (Kelly Greenwood), who herself returned to the village earlier this year after 16 years away.
Since leaving Hollyoaks Lisa reconnected with Zara in Thailand and also found love with an activist boyfriend, but her "surprise visit" to the village will lead to "dramatic scenes" between the best friends.
"I'm thrilled to be popping back to Hollyoaks for a short time," said Atkinson. "It's where my career began so of course, I was going to say yes!
"The cast and crew are so wonderful and although we have stayed in touch personally, it'll be great to work again professionally."
Atkinson's return storyline will air in early 2022.
