Kate Garraway reveals ill husband has lost eight stone

Kate Garraway reveals that her husband has lost eight stone in his battle against coronavirus.

Kate Garraway has revealed that her husband Derek Draper has lost eight stone in just over five months in hospital battling coronavirus.

Draper, 53, successfully rid himself of the disease but his body has been ravaged as a result, with damage caused to his heart, lungs and kidneys - injuries that doctors believe place him among the five worst cases of COVID survival worldwide.

For most of his time in hospital Draper has been in an induced coma but is now in the early stages of coming round, and Good Morning Britain host Garraway has admitted her shock at first seeing what coronavirus had done to him.

"When I finally got to FaceTime him, seeing him unconscious was a big shock," she told YOU magazine. "He's lost nearly eight stone in weight, a lot of it muscle throughout his body.

"He looked worn-out, thin and pale with dark circles under his eyes and there were lots of tubes."

Garraway went on to admit that she is uncertain whether her husband's condition will improve.
