Opera singer JJ is announced as the Austrian representative at this year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Opera singer JJ has been revealed as the representative for Austria at this year's Eurovision Song Contest in Basel.

The 23-year-old - full name Johannes Pietsch - is known for his extensive range and currently performs at the Vienna State Opera.

While his song will not be revealed until early March, JJ will deliver a "popera" performance that combines "his classical roots with a modern artistic vision".

Stefanie Groiss Horowitz, the programme director at broadcaster ORF, said: "JJ is an exceptional talent! With him, we are sending a unique artist to Basel who brings his own magic to the Eurovision Song Contest stage, with captivating pop and classical singing."

Eurovision 2025 will be held at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, with the two semi-finals taking place on May 11 and May 13 ahead of the grand final on May 15.
