Rachael Gill-Davis quits her role as barmaid Gail Loman on Emmerdale after two years.

Rachael Gill-Davis has quit her role as Gail Loman on Emmerdale after two years.

The actress first appeared as Gail - girlfriend of Ryan (James Moore) - in 2019 for a brief stint but returned as a regular cast member in 2023, reuniting with Ryan and getting a job behind the bar at the Woolie.

Gail's major storyline saw her reveal that she had a son by Ryan but gave him up for adoption and - now a teenager - he visited the village to connect with his father, albeit briefly.

Talking about Gill-Davis's exit, a source told The Sun: "Rachael has loved her time on the show but it's time to go.

"Bosses felt the character wasn't inspiring much story and so it was all very amicable. The door has been left open but it's a definite goodbye for now.

"Rachael is looking forward to spreading her wings and showing off her talents on other shows."

Gail's exit is expected to play out on screen later this spring.
