Charley Webb confirms that she has quit Emmerdale for good after 19 years playing Debbie Dingle.

Charley Webb has confirmed recent reports that she has left Emmerdale for good.

The 33-year-old, who has played the part of Debbie Dingle since 2002, left the soap in 2019 to go on maternity leave, returning for a short storyline in December 2020 before departing again.

A recent report claimed that Webb's most recent departure would be a permanent one, despite Debbie's insistence on screen that she would return to the village in the future.

Asked about the story, Webb told a fan on Instagram: "This is always my most asked question but I've never answered it before because I've never wanted to make a big deal of it.

"I left to have Ace 2 years ago. I went back at the end of last year for 10 weeks to complete a storyline.

"So, I guess officially it's been a year. I never felt the need to announce it which is why we didn't."

The character of Debbie is now thought to be still living in Scotland with her young son Jack.
