Jasmine Armfield is to reprise her role as Bex Fowler on EastEnders for a short stint after five years away.
The character is the daughter of Martin (James Bye) and Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) who left the Square in March 2020 in order to go travelling the world.
Following Martin's tragic death in the Queen Vic explosion, Bex will return to Walford to support her mum and the wider family - including her cousin Vicki Fowler, who is also back in E20 after more than 20 years.
"We're delighted to welcome Jasmine home to EastEnders as part of Martin's farewell," said executive producer Chris Clenshaw. "There's no way that Bex would miss her dad's funeral, and Sonia needs her eldest daughter more than ever.
"It's been five years in which Bex has gone out into the world, so she'll come back with renewed wisdom and experience."
Armfield, who previously appeared in the soap from 2014 to 2020, said: "It's wonderful to be back at EastEnders and to see so many familiar faces.
"It's amazing for me to come home, but for Bex, it's an absolutely devastating time because she's lost her dad.
"She's grown up a lot, having spent the past few years travelling, so we're going to see a much more mature and grown-up version of Bex this time around."
With Cassidy leaving her role as Sonia in the coming months, the reappearance of Bex for a short period suggests that she could have some role in her mother's departure from Walford.
