The BBC has released a brand new set of pictures and trailer for the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas special, 'Joy To The World'.

In the episode - airing on Christmas Day - The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) is joined by a woman called Joy (Nicola Coughlan) for an adventure that sees them travel right throughout time.

The new trailer appears to indicate that the episode is a big-budget affair as it features a dinosaur, a scene on top of a train and a futuristic city.

The Doctor is also seen meeting a future version of himself, whom he tells: "Why do you have to be mysterious all the time? That's why everyone leaves you, that is why you are always alone."
