New series of Doctor Who delayed until 2022?

The next series of Doctor Who may reportedly not air until 2022 due to coronavirus delays.

The next series of Doctor Who could reportedly be delayed until 2022 due to production problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Filming on the next run is due to begin next month in Cardiff with the hopes of getting the show on air in Autumn 2021, but according to The Mirror, that schedule is looking increasingly ropey.

The newspaper says that scenes are expected to take twice as long to film due to health and safety protocols, while there are also concerns that the show can be made within budget due to the increased costs in the COVID-19 era.

"Shooting safely is a slow process," said a source. "If there is a series finished and ready to go next year it will be nothing short of a miracle.

"And it's going to cost a fortune."

Filming on a festive special featuring the exit of two characters was completed before the coronavirus lockdown and is due for transmission this Christmas.
