John Thomson will make his Coronation Street return as Jesse Chadwick on October 9, it has been confirmed.
The character first appeared on the cobbles in 2008 and soon got in to a relationship with Eileen (Sue Cleaver) but things came to a crashing halt when he won big at the bookies and decided to go on a big holiday with his parents - and not Eileen.
When he arrived back in Weatherfield, Eileen was almost on the verge of forgiving him but ended things for good when he made a move on her half-sister Julie Carp.
In the episode airing on October 9, the pair come face to face again for the first time in 14 years when he shows up on the street just as Eileen returns from seeing son Jason in Thailand.
Eileen is shocked, however, when Jesse reveals that he's not there to see her - instead he's paying a visit to Eileen's nemesis Gail (Helen Worth), having met up with her while she was travelling a few years ago.
Gail is thrilled to be reunited with Jesse but her family are suspicious of his true motives for coming back to the cobbles - is he sincere?
The storyline will play a key part of Worth's exit this Christmas after a previous plot that would have seen Gail reunite with ex-husband Martin (Sean Wilson) was scrapped for unknown reasons.
