George Banks will be back as Henry Newton on Coronation Street for a short stint this summer.

George Banks is to reprise his role as Henry Newton on Coronation Street after five years, it has been confirmed.

The character, who appeared on the cobbles between 2017 and 2018, is the wealthy descendent of one of the directors of Newton & Ridley, the brewery that supplies beer to the Rovers.

Henry got involved in a relationship with Gemma (Dolly-Rose Campbell) but it later transpired that it was merely a bet he had waged with a friend and, although he eventually made things up with her, he left the street after being kidnapped by gangsters.

According to TV Times, Henry will be back shortly for a brief storyline that sees Gemma working for him as she looks to help out her husband Chesney (Sam Aston) amid his financial woes.

Meanwhile, The Sun reports that villain Dean Turnbull (Anthony Crank) will also be back for a short stint, a year after he left Abi (Sally Carman) for dead.

"Dean's back for a limited time but he's just as dangerous as before," a source told the paper.

"He's got history with Abi but she's not the only addict on the street that Dean knows - Cassie Plummer could be in his orbit too. It's definitely one to watch."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
