Sky Q
Sky has offered some subscribers a free movie as compensation for a service outage last week.
Hundreds of thousands – and perhaps millions – of Sky Q customers were affected by an issue on the evening of last Thursday (May 15) which saw their boxes reset on a 20-minute cycle or become unresponsive completely.
As a thank you for “understanding”, Sky has now made a selection of films available for free via the Sky Store section of the box.
The selection available does not include any recently-released blockbusters and instead features films such as The Karate Kid, Kraven The Hunter, Spider-Man No Way Home, Bridesmaids and Peter Rabbit 2.
In an email to subscribers, Sky said: “On the evening of 15 May, a technical issue caused some Sky Q boxes to enter standby mode. Our teams acted quickly to resolve the issue and restore services.
“We understand how frustrating it can be to lose access to your favourite shows and channels, and we apologise for any inconvenience this caused. We’re taking every step to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
It added: “Delivering an outstanding entertainment experience is a core promise of Sky. We know we fell short this time and appreciate your understanding while we resolved the problem.”
