Chesney Hawkes 'signs up for Celebrity Big Brother'

Chesney Hawkes 'signs up for Celebrity Big Brother'
Nineties pop legend Chesney Hawkes reportedly joins the lineup for Celebrity Big Brother.

Nineties pop icon Chesney Hawkes has reportedly signed up to take part in the new series of Celebrity Big Brother.

The Sun says that the 53-year-old - known for his number one hit 'The One and Only' - has joined the lineup, although as it stands he is due to perform a gig in Southampton on the show's launch night, as well as dates in Leeds, Grimsby, Southport and Cardiff in the four days prior.

"Chesney Hawkes is one of those rare British celebrities who crosses generational divides," a source told the newspaper.

"Everyone knows 'The One and Only' even if the youngsters might not recognise his name.

"He's also had decades in showbiz so CBB bosses hope he'll be loose-lipped about celebrity encounters over the years, just like Louis Walsh last year.

"It's perfect timing for Chesney too as he's releasing a comeback album in April."

Also said to be in the lineup for the new series - due to begin on ITV on April 7 - are Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd, sporting icon Daley Thompson and presenter Angellica Bell.
