TV regulator Ofcom receives 137 complaints from viewers angered by the outcome of the murder trial storyline in Coronation Street.

TV regulator Ofcom has received 137 complaints from viewers unhappy with the outcome of the recent murder trial storyline on Coronation Street.

In the plot, bad boy Corey (Maximus Evans) was found not guilty of the murder of Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni) - despite viewers having learned in flashback scenes that Corey was indeed responsible.

After the episode aired last Friday, angry viewers decided to complain to Ofcom, accusing the soap of disrespecting the memory of hate crime victims.

One wrote on Twitter: "absolutely disgusted that you make such a mockery of a storyline based on hate crime. #Corrie so your message is that you can buy your way out of anything An insult to Sophie Lancashire's family"

Ofcom is now tasked with deciding whether there is a case to investigate further.
