Vikram Solanki to leave Worcestershire for Surrey at end of the season

Vikram Solabki announces that he will be joining Surrey in September following the expiration of his contract from Worcestershire.

Indian-born English batsman Vikram Solanki has announced that he will be leaving Worcestershire at the end of the season to begin a new career at Surrey.

The 36-year-old, who has spent 20 years with Worcestershire, has decided to search for pastures new after the county cricket club failed to offer the right-handed batsman a new contract.

"Surrey have offered me an exciting chance to finish my career at the Kia Oval," said Solanki. "I'm incredibly grateful to Worcestershire for giving me a chance all those years ago.

"I have many, many fond memories with the club both on and off the pitch with players, staff and supporters alike and the decision to end our long relationship has not been easy."

Solanki has played 51 one-day internationals with England as well as three Twenty20 contests following his debut with Worcestershire in 1995.
