Andrew Strauss has urged his England teammates to 'keep their foot on the gas' ahead of the second Test against India at Trent Bridge tomorrow.

England currently lead the four-match series after a dominating performance in the opener at Lord's, in which the hosts finished with 196 runs to spare. However, Strauss has told the players not to start congratulating themselves yet.

"The mind-set is that we have to repeat the hard work we did," he told Sky Sports. "We won the Test match but had to work very hard for it.

"There is always that slight propensity to take your foot off the gas a bit when you've won and congratulate yourself and tap yourself on the back.

"That is something we've tried to get away from in the last 18 months or so. We have to come ready to play tomorrow morning, just as desperate to earn the right to get on top – and then hopefully go on and win the game."

England can replace India at the top of the Test rankings with a two-match win in the series.
