Mitchell Starc helped Australia take seven New Zealand wickets before the end of the second session on day one of the first ever day-night Test in Adelaide.

The Black Caps, who are 1-0 down in the series, have reached dinner break on 173 runs following a half-century from Tom Latham, who attained the figure off 103 balls.

It was a poor start to the first innings for New Zealand as Martin Guptill was trapped lbw by Josh Hazlewood for one, but Latham managed to steady the attack . . .
