Cricket Australia dismiss PA announcer for "inappropriate" comments

PA announcer David Nixon is relieved of his duties by Cricket Australia during England's game against a Chairman's XI after mocking some of the tourists' players.

PA announcer David Nixon was relieved of his duties by Cricket Australia during England's game against a Chairman's XI after mocking some of the tourists' players.

Nixon's offences included goading Joe Root (pictured) about his bar-room altercation with David Warner, which took place prior to England's 3-0 Ashes series win earlier this year.

After Root was dismissed in England's first innings in Alice Springs, Nixon said: "You can go and have another drink now, Joe."

Nixon also introduced Sikh spinner Monty Panesar in a mock-Indian accent.

A Cricket Australia official described Nixon's conduct as "inappropriate".
