Dereck Chisora dedicates fight to Margaret Thatcher

Dereck Chisora will dedicate his fight against Argentinian Hector Alfredo Avila to Margaret Thatcher should he emerge victorious.

Dereck Chisora has said that he will dedicate his fight to Margaret Thatcher should he prevail against Hector Alfredo Avila next Saturday.

The former Tory Prime Minister died on Monday and Chisora likened his clash with the Argentinian fighter to the Falklands war, which Thatcher presided over during the early 1980s.

The heavyweight also admitted that he was a fan of Thatcher's often controversial approach to politics during her time as PM.

"It is fitting that I am facing an Argentinian and, when I win, I will dedicate my victory to [Thatcher]," The Express quotes Chisora as saying.

"I watched a documentary about her after she died and was very impressed. She was a powerful woman. She was one strong lady.

"I'm looking to destroy Avila first and then face one of the other so-called rivals next."

The fight with the 37-year-old Avila will be Chisora's first bout since he was comfortably beaten by David Haye last summer.
