NBA roundup: Big wins for Oklahoma City Thunder, Cleveland Cavaliers

Sports Mole rounds up Sunday night's NBA action, with big wins in the early games for the Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Oklahoma City Thunder and Cleveland Cavaliers put LA's two teams to the sword in Sunday's two afternoon games in the NBA.

OKC returned to winning ways and moved back above .500 (26-25) by comfortably beating the Los Angeles Clippers 131-108.

Without the injured Blake Griffin, who is expected to miss up to six weeks with an elbow problem, the Clippers were dominated from the word go as Kevin Durant led all scorers with 29 points for the Thunder.

The Cavs returned to winning ways for their 13th win in 14 games by cruising past the Los Angeles Lakers 120-105 at Quicken Loans Arena.

Cleveland's 'big three' all had double-doubles, with Kevin Love scoring a season-high 32 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, LeBron James notching 22 points, 10 boards and eight assists and Kyrie Irving adding 28 points and 10 assists.

The Houston Rockets failed to win their third straight game, despite 45 points, nine rebounds and eight assists from MVP candidate James Harden against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Portland won the battle between two of the Western Conference's top four to move within half a game of third-placed Houston in the standings.

At FedExForum, two of the NBA's three best teams faced off and it was the Memphis Grizzlies who held their nerve late on to defeat the Eastern Conference-leading Atlanta Hawks.

The two sides were tied at 86 going into the final stages, but Memphis scored eight of the final 10 points to win it by six and move within three games of the Golden State Warriors at the top of the West.

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is still waiting for his 1,000th career win after watching his side deliver their worst shooting performance of the season in an 87-82 defeat to the Toronto Raptors.

James Johnson led all scorers with 20 points on 8-10 shooting for the Raptors, who move three games clear of the chasing pack in second place in the East.

The Chicago Bulls hung on for a one-point victory against the Orlando Magic in a topsy-turvy affair at Amway Center.

Chicago raced out to a 16-point lead after one quarter, but then had to fight back in the final two minutes before Orlando missed two chances to steal the win in the final seconds.

The Indiana Pacers rallied back from 21 points down in the third quarter to squeeze past the Charlotte Hornets 103-102 at Time Warner Cable Arena.

Al Jefferson had 30 points and 13 rebounds for the Hornets in defeat as George Hill's late floated sealed the win for Indiana.

The lowly Minnesota Timberwolves have a fit-again roster and recorded their third win in a row by seeing off the Detroit Pistons 112-101.

Nikola Pekovic (29) and Kevin Martin (24) combined for 53 points as the Wolves improved to 10-39 for the season.

In Sunday's final game, DeMarcus Cousins hit a buzzer-beater that bounced around the rim before finally dropping home to give the Sacramento Kings an 85-83 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

Cousins's fall-away as time expired put an end to Sacramento's three-game losing streak as the Suns suffered a crushing fourth final-shot loss of the season.
