The Boston Celtics advance to the Eastern Conference semi-finals in the NBA playoffs after completing a 4-0 clean sweep of the Brooklyn Nets.

The Boston Celtics became the first team to advance to the NBA playoff semi-finals after posting a clean sweep of victories over the Brooklyn Nets.

After initially storming into a 3-0 lead with 115-114, 114-107 and 109-013 victories, the 17-time NBA champions made it 4-0 with a 116-112 success at the Barclays Center.

Jayson Tatum once again led the way for the Celtics with 29 points as his side completed their eighth clean sweep in their franchise history, but the 24-year-old insisted that the series was closer than the 4-0 suggests.

"We knew who we were facing, we knew how talented they were, we knew it was going to be a dog fight," Tatum - who was fouled out in the fourth quarter - told reporters after Monday's triumph.

"It was 4-0 but each game was back and forth and tough. We just believed in ourselves. We took it one game at a time and didn't get too far ahead of ourselves."

Either the Milwaukee Bucks or the Chicago Bulls will meet the Celtics in the Eastern Conference semi-finals, with the Bucks 3-1 up in the series and aiming to complete the job on Wednesday night.
