Ukrainian Paralympic discus thrower Mariia Pomazan is believed to be "very angry" after being asked to return her gold medal following a points blunder in the women's F35/36 final on Friday.

Ukraine's Paralympic discus thrower Mariia Pomazan has reportedly refused to return her gold medal after a points blunder made in Friday's final.

The 23-year-old was handed the top honour in the women's F35/36 discus final at the Olympic Stadium only to discover hours later that China's Wu Qing had been promoted into the top spot.

The Ukrainian athlete was originally told that she would be able to keep the medal but that it would not be counted in her nation's medal tally.

IPC committee member Craig Spence said: "We will ask the three medallists who received their medals on Friday, when the wrong result was announced, to hand back those medals. We've made a request."

Pomazan is said to be "very, very angry" at the mistake made by the organisers.
