Doubts over Phillips Idowu's fitness increases as he pulls out of a Portugal training camp.

Concerns over Phillips Idowu's fitness for the London Olympics have increased after the triple jumper did not travel with Team GB to the warm-weather training camp in Portugal.

There have been doubts over Idowu's readiness for the Games all summer, the latest coming when he pulled out of the London Grand Prix earlier this month, meaning he has now not competed since June 1.

Now there is fresh doubt with Idowu not travelling to Portugal, and his coach Aston Moore revealed that the 33-year-old is instead seeking further physiotherapy treatment.

"In training recently Phillips has had an ongoing injury problem and we have not been able to go at things 100%," Moore said in a statement.

"At the weekend Phillips told me he would continue to seek treatment from a private physio in London and would not travel to prepare in Portugal, although he may join us here later.

"He is an experienced athlete who I have worked with for more than four years and we will assess the situation again in the coming days."

Idowu won silver at the 2008 Beijing Games.
