Sir Steve Redgrave insists that there is no need to worry, despite early problems with travel and security staff ahead of the Olympic Games.

Sir Steve Redgrave has attempted to brush off early problems during the preparation for the London Olympic Games.

Travel issues have come to light a week before the first event in the country's capital, with some athletes struggling to find their way to the Olympic Village.

A security firm, which promised staff for the Games, have also caused a problem for failing to provide organisers with significant security members.

"When you have something as big as the Olympics Games and all the sports involved there is no blueprint handed down by the International Olympic Committee about what to do and what to watch out for," Redgrave told BBC Radio Five Live.

"It is a huge thing to try and get right first time without any real practice. I am not worried by the minor problems we have had so far."

Meanwhile, Redgrave is believed to be one of the contenders to light the Olympic flame during the opening ceremony.
