Triple-jumper Phillips Idowu insists that he will be fully fit for the Olympic Games in London.

Great Britain's Phillips Idowu has played down fears over his fitness for this summer's Olympic Games in London.

Reports had claimed that the triple-jumper was struggling to be fit for the Games because of a foot injury sustained while competing in Oregon back in May.

However, the 33-year-old has insisted that he has no concerns over his preparation for the event.

"Everything is going well. I am in good shape, very good shape," he told Sky Sports News. "I am doing everything I need to make sure I am prepared for these Games when they come around and I feel like my plan is working perfectly.

"This is a year when I am not going to take any risks, so it was a wise decision on my part and any talk of injury was due to the written press writing stories.

"But I have never actually mentioned anything about injuries and I have never been quoted talking about any injuries. So I kind of just kept my head down and focused on the job in hand which is to train really hard and prepare for the Games."

Idowu won silver at the 2008 Games in Beijing.
