Mike Pettine: 'Cleveland Browns have not moved on from Johnny Manziel'

Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine insists that the club have not moved on from quarterback Johnny Manziel after reports suggested his side have changed their offense.

Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine has refuted reports that the club have moved on from quarterback Johnny Manziel.

The 22-year-old had a disappointing rookie season in the NFL, which ended in him checking into rehab for personal problems.

The Browns signed veteran Josh McCown to compete with Manziel to be the club's starting quarterback, which Pettine admitted was likely to be won by the 36-year-old.

However, reports suggested that the AFC North side had adapted their offense to the skill set of McCown rather than Manziel, leading to speculation that the club had moved on from the 22-year-old.

When asked about the suggestions, Pettine told reporters: "It doesn't thrill me.

"I don't pay much attention to what's going on outside of the building, but when it potentially can drive a spike between the staff and the team, I have issues with it.

"To me, to talk about how a team's potentially moved on from a player, or he's not in plans, that's just irresponsible."

Manziel started just two games for the Browns in the 2014 campaign after being selected in the first round of the 2014 Draft.
